Company to demo product at upcoming MAPConnected warranty roundtable
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (October 4, 2021) — LegalEase Solutions LLC, which provides customized legal solutions for corporations, in-house legal departments and law firms, has launched iPAT for the automotive OEM market. Developed by a team of attorneys and data scientists at LegalEase in partnership with Felix AI, iPAT leverages historical data, artificial intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics to predict case outcomes, value cases and analyze buy-back eligibility of vehicles, to help OEM’s resolve warranty/lemon law claims more accurately, quickly and at a significantly lower cost.
“Having worked with automotive OEMs for many years, we know how costly and time-consuming it can be to manage warranty litigation in plaintiff-friendly jurisdictions such as California,” said LegalEase Co-founder Tariq Hafeez. “iPAT is the result of combining our 16 years of litigation management support experience for in-house legal departments with industry-leading artificial intelligence technology.”
iPAT uses predictive analytics to help reduce litigation time and associated legal expenses (such as civil penalties and litigation costs), while also ensuring a more consistent and objective valuation of warranty cases. After being trained using vehicle and warranty claims data from the OEM, information on past cases in a particular jurisdiction, and relevant state law, the AI will guide the in-house legal department making decisions about the case.
Currently, iPAT allows OEMs to determine buy-back eligibility under California law to resolve potential warranty breach litigation before it is even filed. If a lawsuit does go ahead, iPAT provides guidance on settlement offers including civil penalties and attorneys’ fees. In future updates, iPAT will offer even more functionality, along with the ability to manage warranty breach litigation in all 50 states.
“iPAT makes the process of managing warranty breach litigation in California far more cost-effective and, more importantly, predictable,” said Akbar. “By using iPAT, OEMs will eliminate nagging worries about whether or not they are overpaying to settle these claims. It will also drive down plaintiff fees and civil penalties, which is significant given the egregious amounts often sought by plaintiffs’ counsel.”
Hafeez is available for interviews and to provide a demonstration of iPAT. LegalEase will also be attending the upcoming MAPConnected Vehicle Service & Warranty Roundtable in Dearborn, Michigan, on October 13-14 and will offer demonstrations of iPAT at the conference.
