National Auto Care Acquired by Private Equity Firm

National Auto Care Corp. announced it will be acquired by Lovell Minnick Partners, a private equity firm with offices in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and New York. The acquisition is subject to receipt of standard regulatory approvals and satisfaction of customary closing conditions.

New Regulations in Oklahoma for Service Warranties

Oklahoma SB 1142 amends various sections of the law related to definitions, audited financial statements, suspensions, annual filings and examinations of service warranty associations.  

“Motor vehicle ancillary service” includes “the repair of chips or cracks in or the replacement of motor vehicle windshields as a result of damage caused by road hazards,” according to the bill.

The bill has been signed by the governor and enacted into law, effective November 1.

Service Contract Related Windshield Bill Moves Forward in Louisiana

Louisiana HB 522, expands the term “service contract” to “include a contract or agreement for the repair of chips or cracks in or the replacement of motor vehicle windshields as a result of damage caused by road hazards.”

The bill was sent to the governor for executive approval on May 18.
