FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 09/26/14

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Division of Insurance is seeking information from consumers in Nevada who have outstanding unpaid claims against the Nevada-based company, Sensible Home Warranty.

In May 2014 Sensible announced on its website that it had gone out of business; as a result, on May 28, 2014 the Division suspended Sensible’s certificate of registration. The Division is aware that many consumers in Nevada may still have outstanding claims that Sensible has failed to pay, and is seeking information from these individuals so that claims may be paid utilizing a security bond held by the State of Nevada.

To make a claim, consumers must file a Proof of Claim Form which must be submitted to the Division no later than March 26, 2015. This form can be downloaded from the Division website doi.nv.gov.

After the deadline, the Division will evaluate all Proof of Claim Forms to verify that the claims are legitimate and were submitted before the deadline. The Commissioner of Insurance will approve all final claims decisions and payments. Funds available for claims are limited.

The Division cannot guarantee what percentage of approved claims will be paid. This will be determined by the Commissioner considering the amount of approved claims in relation to the amount of the security held by the State of Nevada.
